So today I am 37 weeks pregnant. Full term. Baby can come whenever she wants now and should have no problems breathing on her own (according to all the books) she weighs about 5 and half ish pounds, maybe a little more. Feels like she weighs at least 18 stone, my belly feels so heavy. It’s dropped over the last week and I can feel myself holding it when I walk.
Excuse my concentrating grumpy face.
What’s happened this week, well on Thurs I had a blood test for liver function, my doc asked for it because of how much I have been sick. The lady was lovely and said I would hear next week so I was a little concerned when my doctor called me on Friday morning. He said my liver enzymes were very high and asked me to go straight to the labour and delivery ward at the hospital. Ben was at work without his van so Rosie took me. It’s the first time I have been when the waiting room wasnt full of women in various stages of labour. It was just me. I handed over my notes and got weighed, have gained exactly 10kg since my booking appt at 7 Weeks which I am mega happy about. Anyway, after ten mins in the waiting room I was taken to a private room, gave a wee sample, had BP taken and 2 blood tests. Then strapped to monitor to make sure baby was OK. Was on the machine for over an hour, took some pics of the trace, it’s shows some big braxton hicks contractions but apart from that all good. At one point an alarm went off and babies heartbeat was reading zero which made me panic, however she had just moved and kicked the pad away, little bugger
All the spikes r braxton hicks on the bottom trace. Felt like period pains.
I didn’t bother getting Ben to come to the hospital Coz I thought there would be no point in 2 of us being bored so I sat and read my book and waited. Bloods came back with high liver enzymes again so they r booking me for a liver function scan this week. They r looking for something called obstetric choleostatsis (spelt wrong) from what they have said it is something that can make me itchy and possibly baby to come early but I’m not worried about that coz she’s cooked already. It should just return to normal once she is here, fingers crossed. So that was this week’s drama, hoping it’s the last bit now until I actually go into labour (really hoping labour isn’t dramatic at all). Gonna put a towel under my bed sheet tonight just incase, don’t wanna ruin my mattress lol.
Today we went looking for baby toys for a newborn, we have researched and know Babies need mirrors and red, white and black toys. We couldn’t find any of them but we did get a mega cute little caterpillar toy that vibrates and squeaks that is suitable for a newborn. Got it from toys r us in the sale for a fiver
It also has a teether ring on the end for when she is bigger. I also put a new pink heart sheet on her moses basket which is next to my bed, so I can get used to it being there.
Her nursery is completely finished now too, I got my nursing chair this week, couldn’t justify 200 quid for a new one but found one on eBay for 45. I absolutely love it, so comfy. Here’s the finished nursery, I’ve cut the murel off the pic coz it has her name on it and that’s staying secret
So pleased it’s all ready, I know she won’t be in it for a while but it’s nice to have it finished. I’ve also started my stock cupboard this week, it’s basically the understairs cupboard that I used a a pantry however I have cleaned it out and started buying things that we always need but run out of frequently when Ben doesn’t tell me he has used the last of it. Eg, toilet roll, Shampoo, washing tablets etc. Also stocked up on baby wipes when they r on offer.
Ben says it’s my little shop. I’m sure people will think this is stupid but I don’t care, I like to be prepared.
Smell u later xxxx
